Breaking a guitar string may be one of the greatest mishap that can happen to a player. Your post is very inspiring for other players, thanks for posting.

Hi Marghe,
I am so honored that you left a comment on my blog! Your statue is a staple in the musical saw world - thank you so much for creating it! I am not at all surprised that it has been inducted into the Smithsonian - well deserved!
I'm glad you are now writing a book about the experience of creating the statue - I would be interested to read it.

All the best,

Natalia

Hi Tim and Natalia,

Thank you for your comments! I am the sculptor who created the sculpture of Tom, and it is probably the signature piece I ever did or ever will do. I fought like a demon for it, hoodwinked the City, faced alot of threats, but now it's been inducted into the Smithsonian...who would have guessed!

I am currently working on a book about this crazy experience. (Sorry to hear about Utah Phillips...I have to work fast since quite a few folks who helped are already gone).

Regards, Marghe McMahon

Hi Natalia:

I'm the brother of a subway busker who goes by the name Laust Cawz. A couple of months ago he disappeared from his Brooklyn apartment and hasn't been seen since. I'm just trying to contact people who may have seen him recently (since July) to figure out if he's okay. As a fellow busker I thought I'd check with you. Have you seen him? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Sue,

Who is your son? Maybe I know him...
The question is: what was he arrested for (too loud, blocking the way, selling CDs?)
Did he argue with the police/refuse to move?

Most likely, he will get in front of a judge by the following day who will immediately dismiss the charge. That is what has happened to all my friends who were arrested for busking.

Can anyone provide citations to laws or rules that address busking in NYC subways? I saw the reference from The Saw Lady about 'Freedom of Expression." My son was recently arrested for busking in a NYC subway and I am trying to inform myself.
